Andrew and Mel - Bunya Mountains Wedding Photographer

The Bunya Mountains is the most beautiful spot and when I got the call from Mel and Andrew to photograph their wedding up there, I couldn't wait for their special day!
Not only was it up in the mountains, it was in a GORGEOUS house with a fantastic view, it was going to be a very intimate wedding with only 8 people, and Mel and Andrew both race mountain bikes so they were going to be featuring as well!

They even rode all the way to Maclagan and back on the morning of their wedding!! Talk about dedication!! :))

Well, it was a perfect day. The view was AMAZING. And Mel was STUNNING. Andrew, dressed in his dashing suit, waited for his beautiful bride on the deck of this amazing house below. Check out the view!

We also went for a hike to get to a gorgeous spot that Andrew and Mel found on one of their bike rides. Surrounded by the towering Bunya Tree's and leaf-lined paths of the bush, we came to a gorgeous waterfall with gnarly trees and roots everywhere...

And not to forget the bikes.... SO. MUCH. FUN!

I love a good story. I find people fascinating. When I meet a bride and groom, the first thing I love to know is how they met. Maybe its the romantic in me, but tell me a good story and I'm in heaven!
I also love hearing all about the very important details that each couple has put so much effort into. From choosing their bridal party, to their colour scheme...to all the little things that will make up their special day.
Hearing Ian and Lesley's story, especially about the first time she came out to Kingaroy and got lost on some country backroads was hilarious...and I knew this was going to be a fun and down to earth wedding.

When you're asked by another photographer to capture images of them, its a little daunting...but a HUGE privilege!!

This is Jan. She is a wonderful and beautiful close friend of mine and is one of those people that you can't help but love. Not only is she also an amazing photographer herself - she is the Queensland president of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography. So yeah, daunting is an understatement!!

When she asked me to photograph her I knew, knowing how beautiful she is on the inside AND out, I wanted to capture that beauty and giving spirit that emanates from her in her images.

I LOVE couples in love. That SHOW they are in love...and don't care whose watching. You can see it by their body language and they way they look at each other. By they way he treats her and whispers sweet nothings in her ear. By the way he gently kisses her shoulder.

Claire and Kev are definitely a couple in love. I had the absolute pleasure to capture these very moments between these two beautiful people. It makes me love what I do that much more...

On a perfect winters day, with friends and family by their side, Steph and Will became husband and wife in the wonderfully picturesque town of Maleny. Stephanie wore a gorgeous ruffled gown complete with a creamy, warm, furry shawl to keep the cool mountain breeze from her bare shoulders. Darryl and Hayley's Engagement Session - South Burnett/Kingaroy Wedding Photographer

Driving out to Darryl's property, I knew we were going to have some amazing light. And it didn't disappoint. The soft, rich glow of the late afternoon sun was just perfect!

We even had some of the locals come and watch us. They were the biggest stickybeaks and didn't mind being in a few shots themselves! :)

Now, see these two rings. Darryl actually MADE the ring on the left out of fencing wire and pliers...before giving Hayley the "real" one... Aren't they awesome!!

And as usual, a shoot isn't complete without the amazing old sheds and buildings that are scattered on these farms. I LOVE them!!

In the days preceding Terry and Jodie's wedding, it rained. And rained. And rained. There was water EVERYwhere! But come Saturday morning, you couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day...even a little wind didn't dampen their spirits. Terry and Jodie had their beautiful kids around them to help them celebrate their love.

With gorgeous pale blue dresses and flowers made by Jodie's daughter Sam, the girls all looked amazing...pefectly complimenting Jodie's amazing figure-hugging wedding gown. Aren't they just STUNNING!! :)

I had the recent opportunity to photograph a small family reunion, with some family members having travelled all the way from the UK!
We met up on their secluded bushland family property at Tewantin, Qld. After all the rain we've had recently, it was very wet underfoot, but we found some great locations on their acreage to photograph in and around.

Their only grandson...He was such a cutie!

The last few weeks have been, as an understatement, WET! There has been SO MUCH rain, which has been just wonderful, but seeing the sun and its warmth come out today has been a sight for sore eyes. Being in the mood to get out of the house and take some photographs, I found the perfect subject. My garden.

I LOVE my garden. It makes me smile. It makes me happy. And grounded. It makes me feel "at home".

After meeting with Terry and Jodie, I was SO SO excited to be photographing them, not only for their wedding, but also for their engagement photographs.

Terry is a pilot and together, both he and Jodie have a love of airplanes...especially their new baby!

We met up at an airstrip on the banks of the beautiful Somerset dam(SE Qld), and we couldn't ask for a more amazing location. The skies were wonderfully cloudy, and the backdrops of the dam and long wispy grass were the perfect compliment.

Can't wait for Terry and Jodie's wedding soon. I hope you enjoyed viewing these as much as I enjoyed photographing them!

A New Look

I've been wanting to get a bit of a new look for a little while, and working with the very talented Anna, we've come up with something that we feel is me - A warm, friendly, professional, creative and vintage/country feel!

So as you can see from the blog header, this is the "new" me!! :D

As a girl who looooves stationery, I'm looking forward to using it on business cards and letterheads etc...

I have some even MORE exciting news coming very soon. So keep an eye out. Details will be coming shortly!

The day was a gloriously warm winter's morning. Cass and Zach came out to the farm to celebrate their recent engagement by getting a photoshoot. We made use of a heap of different locations...old sheds, long grass, a rustic cottage, hanging upside down in trees...

They came prepared with a couple of different co-ordinating outfits (and Cass's SHOES *sigh*!) to make it all the more special.

Derek and Jodie are such a fun couple. Their whole wedding, from getting ready through til the reception, was held on their Kumbia farm.

It was a perfect, but very warm Autumn day. The boys had their brand spanking new Massey Ferguson tractors as their wedding vehicles...whilst the girls had the airconditioned comfort of 4WD's.

The ceremony was held at an absolutely gorgeous spot down by the creek.

This E-session was just amazing! The weather. The location (Yes, I am biased). The GORGEOUS couple.

Not only were they a gorgeous couple, they were fun and willing to do anything I asked of them... and more.

Family Portraits - Kingaroy/South Burnett Photographer

When Vanessa contacted me about getting some family portraits done, I was really excited, because she had seen some earlier images taken on our farm and wanted to drive over an hour so they could have some of the gorgeous backdrops we have here in their photographs. I was only too happy to oblige... :)

This is the second time I have shot this growing family....first, when little man C was only a tiny baby. I couldn't believe how grown up the kids were when i saw them again.

The kids had a ball, exploring the wide open spaces, all the treasures a working farm has, and playing with the new addition that arrived just after they did, our puppy.

Newborn photography is one of the most precious experiences for me...not only because babies are beautiful, soft and have that lovely baby smell...but as a mother, nothing in this world is more fulfilling than the joy of having brought into this world a precious little person you have had growing inside of you for 9 months. Although my youngest is now 6, I remember the feeling as if it were yesterday....the strong maternal instincts at holding a newborn is something we women are so fortunate to have.

To capture them at this precious age is such a reward in itself...the first two weeks go by in a blur for new mum's (and dad's)...and having beautiful photo's showing how small they really were, are a wonderful reminder of this fleeting moment...

This week, I have the utmost pleasure of photographing little baby D at this tender age, with his mum and dad, Kirstie and Wayne.

You know its getting close to summer when the flying insects hang around your outside lights at night, when you only sleep with a single sheet over you... when your washing dries in 20 minutes flat on the clothes line!

Here in beautiful Qld, summer has come early and along with the heat, is all the fun that comes along with it...Swimming, summer dresses, long warm afternoons....and lots of bbq's with friends :)

They live on the other side of Australia, and we haven't seen them for over a year now. Since then, they have had little Zahli, who we've been dying to meet since she was born a couple of months ago.
We knew Zahli was a beautiful little baby from the photo's...but seeing her, actually getting to hold her, I got an overwhelming feeling of love straight away for her. Seeing photo's in emails is never the same as seeing them face to face, and being able to hold them in your arms.

Anyway, while here, a little photo session was in order. How can you not capture the love and gorgeousness in their new little family.

Keith and Renae....Kingaroy/South Burnett Wedding Photographer

Last weekend saw Keith and Renae exchange vows at a beautiful garden ceremony on the outskirts of Kingaroy - Sunny Ridge Gardens. A morning wedding, the Qld sun and heat were out in full force, but the joy, love and excitement shown by everyone attending outshone it all.

Keith and Renae both had their children give them away on the day. Here, Renae's son gets a helping hand to get ready.....

The colour scheme of their wedding was Red, Black and White...my favourite!!

Renae spent the morning getting ready with her very special Grandma. I LOVE this shot of them together...it really shows their close bond....

Instead of exchanging rings, Keith and Renae chose to exchange monogramed necklaces...each wearing the first letter of the other. Beautiful and so very original....

Gavin and Wendy's wedding.....Kingaroy Wedding Photographer

I had been looking forward to photographing Spud (Gavin) and Wendy's wedding for a long time. Not only do our children go to school together, they are also good friends of ours.
They are very well known and loved in our small community, ...and the old church was absolutely packed with standing room only...and over 100 people standing outside, waiting to get a peek of the beautiful bride.
Since being told of their plans to marry...and all the fantastic details of their wedding...I couldn't wait for this day. They had everything from old cars, old sheds...and even this beautiful, quaint old church in the middle of nowhere, to hold their nuptials.......

Wendy had a vintage-inspired dress which suited the theme of their wedding perfectly.....The tiny beading and details on her dress were just STUNNING!!

Here, her beautiful daughter, Macey, looked gorgeous in her fuschia-coloured dress...She really thought she was a princess for the day....

The gardens where the formal photo's were taken was absolutely stunning! They were actually at a local farm where the owners were keen gardners, and kindly let us use their property to shoot in and around....

From gorgeous gardens, to old sheds...this place was AMAZING!!

The day was perfect Queensland weather....a beautifully warm, spring day.....and ended with much fun and festivity held at the local hotel that Spud and Wendy own & run, the Maidenwell Hotel.

Thank you must also go to my wonderful assistant, my hubby, for helping me out on the day. He made the day alot of fun and had the bridal party laughing and enjoying themselves for the whole day...

Nathan & Mei-Lin's Wedding...Kingaroy Wedding photographer

Saturday was a beautiful day for a wedding. Nathan and Mei-Lin (who is expecting) were married in a beautiful garden ceremony in Kingaroy. We were lucky the dust storms that were around didn't affect us and the weather was a perfectly warm spring day.

The girls got ready at a picturesque farm house overlooking a beautiful valley. The house had the most beautiful light streaming in the huge wooden windows and doors.
Here are some favourites of the day....

At the garden ceremony, the family had a "Sand-pouring" ceremony - this symbolises blending families; giving each child a role within the ceremony and highlighting his or her importance within the family unit.

A beautiful moment. Nathan looks on lovingly as his new wife signs the register...

I love this shot and the look on everyone's faces. Their little boy sneezed just as we were about to take this shot...and he's holding, well, you know what... :)

Last week i had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful Cass in her formal dresses...I'd been looking forward to photographing her for some time because as you can see, she is stunning!!

We started at the Heritage Museum in Yarraman and then headed out to my own farm for some nice, late afternoon light. It was SO cold and poor Cass was freezing...but to her credit, she was such a trouper...putting on a warm jumper between shots!!

We had heaps of fun and lots of laughs, which makes for a great relaxing shoot. We also had the help of her sisters Erin and Renee...who were holding props and reflectors for us. Thanks so much girls...xo

I have been looking forward to their wedding. After the recent rains, the countryside is absolutely gorgeous and green....AND... I knew Sarah was having her beloved horse along for the day. (I LOVE horses)

First day of School '09

Six weeks have flown by and its now back to school here. The kids were so keen to get back, which is a relief. My DS started Year 4 and my baby started grade 1 :(

She just looks so little...with that HUGE bag, lol!

So far, the holidays have been pretty cruisy...the kids have had lots of sleep-overs at their grandparents houses and cousins as well...they've been to kids parties...they've had a camping trip, made a vege garden (pics soon to come)....
Christmas day we went up to the Bunya Mountains for a picnic/bbq which was nice for a change of scenery...it was so beautiful and green!

Ebony has also found my old camera and has decided she is now going to be a photographer like her mum and has even called herself EOP - Ebony Otto Photography, lol!!

She wanted some photo's of herself, so who am i to say no to a budding photographer :p>>>>>

She's taken nearly 100 photo's of things around the farm...i must say she is REALLY good...She even took a photo of me on "her" camera....and its not half bad (even tho i DO hate photo's of myself!!)

Vege Gardening....

We have been wanting to start a little vege garden for ages...so now the school holidays are here, the kids were keen to get it going.

We used a couple of old bathtubs (that were earmarked for cattle troughs) and filled them will dirt and planted out a heap of carrots, potatoes, beans, lettuce and tomatoes. The kids had heaps of fun and can't wait to to able to pick and eat them....Well, hopefully it will get them to eat thier veges...knowing THEY actually grew them :p

Ebs found this little grub and named it Lucky....(but it wasn't so lucky...it has already met an untimely death, lol!)

Well, its that time of year again...School is coming to a close and 6 weeks of having the kids home, and all the joys that go along with it, is just about on us.

Look what i made......

Yes...i have been playing with wool again....but this time i tried crocheting! I have wanted to learn how to crochet for a long time, just because i LOVE crocheted things - they are so beautiful and i love the textures of it.

So i had a go at making this hat....and it turned out great!

ps...don't ask me how i did it...i think it was a fluke actually, lol :p

And of course i had my willing dd to model it for me.......

In the last month, we have had SO so many babies being born around the farm....calves are popping out everywhere! And we have had to be midwives for a few of the heifers as well....being their first calf a few of them were having a hard time birthing....but once you've pulled a calf and see their gorgeous little faces....its all worth it

Living on the farm, the kids have seen so many being born its virtually a non-event to them now....but each and every birth is still an amazing sight, no matter how many times you see it

A couple of weeks ago we had a pretty bad storm here and lightning struck our place. It blew up our TV, Dvd player and phone line!! And on top of that, my computer decided to chuck a hissy fit!!

Now, i don't know about you, but when you lose only ONE of these things its pretty hard to take...but when you lose ALL FOUR.....HOly Moly, i don't know how we EVER got by before the net and TV!! AND DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS!!

Why am i shouting?? Just try if for one day......it is sooooooo hard!! I felt like i was on another planet, not knowing anything and being able to check out my fave websites or sending/checking emails or ringing/hearing from anybody was like my right arm had been cut off, lol!!

On the plus side tho...i got a few things done around the house and the kids HAD to go outside and actually amuse themselves! And we got to go away down to the coast for a few days.......

So now, i'm back online, and back in touch with the real world.....

I'll be back to update on other stuff as soon as i catch up with a heap of stuff i NEED to catch up on :o)

We had the pleasure meeting Lee Kernaghan (again), Australian of the Year, while he was in Millmerran last Sunday supporting us farmers in our plight (with a heart-wrenching speech, might i add) to get assistance from the govt's/councils, stating that they don't realise where the food they eat every day is coming from....The wheat in their Weetbix, the milk in their coffee's, the steak on their plates.....Think about it - No Farmers, No Food!!

Well done Lee!! You have done so much for all the farmers of Australia and FINALLY people are listening...Thank you!!

1. Ten years ago....I was newly married and being the perfect wifey, making DH lunches everyday, etc..........do i do it now - HELL NO....he can get his own lunch, lol!!

*put new light bulbs in that have been blown for about 2 years.....DONE...Double YAY!!

3. Snacks i enjoy......carrots sticks with my homemade french onion dip or garlic dip...YUM!!

4. If i were a millionaire.....i would still be a photographer, but i'd upgrade my camera!

Man, they come around quick!

We've kept busy the first few days. We have been digging and shovelling and digging some more.......because - WAIT FOR IT -

WE NOW HAVE AN INSIDE TOILET!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!

I can't tell you how excited we are.....I have been waiting for this for about 9 years!! You see on a farm, nothing is important in the house.....its the outside - the cows, the grass, the water - that is ALL important.....but after much asking, begging, pleading - we now can stop walking out in the cold, icy winds and putting our shoes on everytime we have to go, lol!!

Ok...moving on ;o)

Now that the kids are home, i have been out with the camera, clicking furiously....much to their dislike! I did get some that i love>>>>

PMA Convention

I had the opportunity to go to the PMA Photographic Convention in Brisbane on the weekend.....I went with gorgeous Nikala and her cousin Helen and also met up with a few Flickr girls as well.

WOW!! I was like a kid in a candy shop!! A photographers heaven is the best i can describe it....Camera's and every camera accessory available and also all the gorgeous album companies. I went to a few seminars and met a few of my favourite photographers in person......namely Shelton Muller, Marcus Bell and Yervant!! I have definitely come away full of inspiration!!

And if you missed it - make sure you get to it next time.....its a must-see!!

Baby Shower.....

On the weekend, a heap of us girls went to shower our good friend Sonya with lots of goodies for her little bubby girl, who is due in July.

It was held at one of many wineries in the South Burnett - Moffatdale Ridge winery, Murgon. Oh, and if you ever get there - ask for the CHOCOLATE PORT......It is TO DIE FOR....YUMMO!!

The theme was pink - can you tell, lol

Over the long weekend, i had the privilege of photographing my good friend Micaela's wedding up in Rockhampton. The weather was just absolutely perfect....you couldn't have asked for anything better. Here are some sneak peaks.......

A Mixture....from last weeks school holidays

We didn't go anywhere for school holidays.....but we did a heap of stuff......
Picked tons (and i mean tons) of pumpkins and watermelons...and then we put them in a little stall on the side of the highway.....and we sold just about all of them.....the kids got a heap of pocket money because they were SUCH good helpers in picking and stacking them all!!

Wacky hair AND free dress day........

Yep....it was on again......as a reward to the whole school (for being SO good during the term), the teachers let the kids have a free dress and a wacky hair day.

This is the kids favourite day of term!!

Jackson had specific instructions on how he wanted his hair this time...............shaved with "spikes", with one colour for the "spikes" and one colour everywhere else!! So of course, being the obliging mother i am...........lol

but then, he didn't want any photo's of it........go figure!!

Ebony was a different story.......she didn't really care what she had as long as it had colours in it.....and then she nicely posed for a few shots.......

Just this morning......

This morning when we woke up, there was a really thick fog......as i walked outside all i could see in the long grass in the paddocks was literally millions of spider webs with heavy dew on them.....it was so beautiful, especially with the light hitting them!!

This was some of the photo's i took early this morning......

This one was in a patch of paper flowers......you can see a spider web in between the flowers if you look close........i love this one.....looks like a painting.......

Ok......so i finally have a minute to show some of Muzz and Dani's wedding.........the photoshoot was in the most beautiful garden in Dalby.....(a prizewinning garden too, btw)....there was probably TOO many spots to take photo's

Love this one...... with one of Muzza'a nephews, Brysen.....they are very close!
