Boys....Don't you just love 'em - Kingaroy & South burnett photographer

Boys.
Where hugs turn into wrestles. Need I say more ;)

These boys were such cuties, and the light was just gorgeous!

Flashback Friday

I'm sure I've said it before, but I really love Engagement sessions. We always have a good time and its a great way for my couples to get some fun, casual images of themselves before all the formality of their wedding day.
So this weeks Flashback Friday  is Andy and Jess - 2009. I can't believe it has been 4 years! Crazy how time flies! :))

Have a great weekend

Flashback Fridays

I love when a couple are up for experimenting in their portrait sessions.

This image was taken during an engagement session with Cassie and Zach (a few years ago now).  We had so much fun, and this came about as we were just mucking around in a little shack on the farm. I loved how it turned out and it quickly became one of my faves from the whole shoot! :)

Flashback Fridays

You know how you have that  favourite image of your children. The one that is so precious to you that is in pride of place in your home?!

Well this is the one for me. Its one of those classic images that will never date, and will be on my walls forever. No matter how old (or embarrassed, ha!) they get.

 I LOVE IT.

Our Beautiful New Wedding Albums

We have a gorgeous new wedding album that has arrived in the studio! It is just beautiful and I'm so excited to be able to offer these new custom-designed albums for our lovely couples.  Each album is personally designed by us... and as every wedding is completely unique, so are each of our albums.

Remember when you were young and you enjoyed looking through your parents or even your grandparents well-loved wedding album (maybe even giggling at their old-fashioned style, hehe!) :) I truly treasured those moments, being able to see and feel the love from their precious wedding day.

I cannot stress enough the importance of a wedding album. A wedding album is not just an album. It is your unique story. A story of the day you created a sacred union with your partner to share the rest of your lives together.
It will also become an heirloom, the FIRST heirloom for YOUR family.

Why not drop in to the studio to come and see for yourself. We'd love to see you :)

Ben & Catherine - Bunya Mountains Engagement photoshoot

Its offical. I LOVE love love the Bunya Mountains. How can you NOT with the most DEVINE setting like this!

Cue cute couple Ben & Catherine. Cue gorgeous light. And I was like a pig in mud! :))

Some faves from our time together...

Adam & Emma's Sunshine Coast Wedding

What can I say about Emma and Adam's amaaaazing wedding?  Every single little detail was thought of,  right down to embroidered handkerchiefs with personal messages.  Emma's mum and dad wrote one for her to open on the morning of her wedding. And each of the girls had one written for them beautifully encased in gorgeous carved wooden boxes.
Emma had thought of everything (I'm sure Adam had some imput in there somewhere too, haha!) I love it when a couple think outside the square with all their wedding details - especially all the little personal touches.

The wedding was held at Twin Waters Resort on the Sunshine Coast. There are SO MANY gorgeous images from their wedding, that I've decided to separate it into a couple of posts as it way too big for just one!

I hope you enjoy their lovely day as much as I did photographing them :)

Flashback Fridays - Kingaroy Professional Photographer

Is it Friday already!!  Time for the second installment (see the kickoff HERE) of FBF's (Flashback Fridays).

I'm actually really enjoying going through my older work...it brings back great memories and makes me smile at some of the great people I've had the pleasure of working with :)

So here's another one of my faves from Terry & Jodies' engagement session a few years ago - I LOVE when people think outside the box for their portrait sessions! :))

How can you NOT love a shoot with a plane...come on! ;)

Flashback Fridays - Kingaroy & South Burnett Photographer

Every now and then, I love to go back through my old images, not only to reminisce, but to see how I have changed (or not changed) as a photographer. Today I did just this and I thought why not share some of my older work...some, that if you are a follower of my blog, you may recongnize from the past and some that I may not have previously shared online anywhere.

So I thought why not make it a regular weekly post called "Flashback Fridays"...this way I get to reminisce regularly and also get to share with you, my lovely readers, my past work.  My poor old blog - which gets very neglected - will also hopefully feel some love :)
There will be personal works, but also my favourite client images that I still love very much!

First off I have one of my all-time favourite images of Erin who was very pregnant with her second daughter in December of 2009. This one I have huge on an art canvas in my studio I loved it so much (and still do!) :)

Anyway, I hope you will enjoy this regular installment...if you have any ideas of what else you'd like me to post, feel free to let me know via comments here. I'd love to hear from you! :)

Australian Professional Photography Awards 2013

I just returned home from the annual Australian Professional Photography Awards (APPA) held in Melbourne, where hundreds of my good friends and colleagues watch nervously as our images get judged by a panel of experts and given a score out of 100.
For weeks, and sometimes months, we agonize over choosing which images to enter, pour our heart and soul into them, refine them, then refine them some more to make them perfect. The whole process is stressful (as all my photographer friends will attest to!) but it really pushes you outside your comfort zone and helps you grow and better yourself each year...

For me, it's the highlight of my working year, a time to catch up with my beautiful friends, my photography family, meet new ones, learn and be completely inspired!
It was my goal at this years awards to better myself from last year and I did that by being awarded a SILVER WITH DISTINCTION award for a portrait (see below) that is my most precious image I have taken to date. Of my two beautiful children. That to me is worth more than all the golds in the world.
I also received 2 Bronzes - one point away from Silver for the portrait of the cute little boy and baby below.
So thank you APPA and Melbourne for yet another amazing year. Til next time xx

Styled Family Portraits - Family Photographer Kingaroy & South Burnett

I'm always humbled and honoured to be asked to photograph other photographers and their families. Nita, a photographer herself, asked if I could capture some images of her beautiful girls for her.
Being a photographer who constantly takes photos of my own children, I know how hard it is to get GOOD images of my own children.  They kinda become immune to seeing our cameras every day and its the LAST thing they want to do, lol

But these girls were so good and definitely knew what they were doing...and how GORGEOUS are they!
Styling them and our whole shoot today with these gorgeous dresses was Jodi from Looking Lush who did a fabulous job with all the cute props as well. So, if you're looking for a stylist for your next shoot, definitely give Jodi a call!  She is amazing and so very creative!

Keep an eye out for more images soon. Seriously gorgeous stuff!
Thank you so much for the privilege of capturing your girls Nita, hope you like them x

Existing in Family Photos - Family Portraits Kingaroy

Recently I watched an online course and it stressed the importance of BEING IN photographs with your family.  Not just getting images of the kids all the time.
Being a photographer, I am terribly guilty of always being behind the camera.  I am constantly taking photos of my children, but try and get someone to take a photo of me and I cringe at the thought!   I try to justify it by saying, "oh I will, when I lose some more weight/get new clothes/dye my hair (whatever other excuse I can think of!)

But I've also seen, from my own clients, that when a loved one has sadly passed away, they struggle to find many photographs of them.

We need to EXIST in photos's with our children

So, I am going to be taking this advice myself and getting our family portraits done.
My kids love me no matter what my hair looks like, no matter how much I weigh etc.. They don't see our flaws.  They love us exactly how we are, and that is all that matters.  It is important for them to have images of US.

Priceless.

So here is a gorgeous little growing family that was so much fun to photograph. All together. Dad, Mum, Daughter, and baby-to-come :))
Oh, and grandad & grandma too!

Dollcake Vintage Childrens Clothing - Kingaroy Photographer

I'm in love with the Dollcake Vintage Children's Clothing range, so it was my absolutely dream to photograph their Summer clothing line.

Here are some of my faves!
(Adding more, so keep an eye out)

Kiersten - Nanango High Formal - South Burnett Formal Photographer

Formal season is almost upon us again! Its the perfect time to get your Year 12 Senior portraits while you're looking absolutely amazing in your perfect dress, heels, hair and makeup!
This is the incredibly gorgeous Kiersten from her formal last year. Kiersten, her boyfriend and her family had some beautiful portraits taken just before heading off to the Nanango High formal dinner.

How stunning is she! :))

Josh & Bree - Kingaroy (The Gums) Wedding Photographer

Josh and Bree's wedding out at The Gums Memerambi was hot. Very hot.
You know its going to be a stinker when you walk outside and it takes your breath away!
But it didn't seem to matter one bit to these two :)
